Teeth whitening part 1
/You may be considering how best to whiten your teeth, especially if they appear to be turning more yellow in colour. This fact sheet will give you a short description of what teeth whitening is, what is involved in the process and how it is carried out.
Its main goal is to change your teeth from a yellow to a whiter colour. It’s normal that teeth become stained and discoloured over time, having been subjected to various conditions, as well as the build-up of bacteria and tartar, and wear and tear causing cavities. As a result, it becomes increasingly difficult for your teeth to maintain their original white and bright colour, simply by brushing alone.
Three main teeth whitening methods are now available: in-office whitening; take-home kits; and over-the-counter products.
The best results can be achieved by using in-office whitening procedures, which are carried out by your dentist over a short time period. Take-home kits are user-friendly, practical and risk-free. They are tailor-made to suit the individual, but can be used in a flexible manner, especially for those with busy lifestyles. Over-the-counter products are also fairly simple to apply and they are the least expensive option to use.
